My husband Jeff and I bought our first Shih Tzu in 1987.  "Chinese Princess II" went on to obtain her Companion Dog title and my love for her gave me the desire to become more involved with the Shih Tzu breed.  I have been a member of the Oshkosh Kennel Club since 1987,  a member of the American Shih Tzu Club since 1989, and I am currently serving as a chair for the ASTC Obedience Committee.  Currently I am serving as President of the Shih Tzu Club of Wisconsin’s Fox Valley  and have been a member of local clubs since 1989 as well.  I have worked and served on many committees and projects with all of my club memberships.  Since obtaining my first Obedience title I have appreciated the versatility of this wonderful breed.  I spent many years teaching Obedience classes, and treasure the title that I obtained from ASTC in 2000 of the highest scoring Shih Tzu, Ch Spunku’s Generation Next, CD, CGC, TD.  “Mindy” became my first dual titled dog.  I love to see dogs that I have bred active in Obedience and Agility as well as Conformation as it is a true statement of proper structure to compete at these levels.

 

My kennel name "Spunku" was derived from my first two breeding females "Spunky" and "Ku".  Since our beginning we have bred many champions.  We strive to breed excellent quality and temperament in our dogs.  Of our conformation titles the one that stands out the most is Multi BISS Ch Spunku’s My Lady of Camelot who completed her title in 5 shows straight.  She started her fast career by taking Best of Breed at the Shih Tzu Fancier’s of Greater Baltimore Specialty Show over specials.  Her brother also went on to a wonderful career gaining the titles of BIS Gr Phil/Am Ch Spunku’s First Knight.  I am also very proud of my current stud dog Ch Spunku Diamond Dynasty Magic Merlin for his titles and Multi Group winnings.  I have also had the opportunity to finish one of my dogs owner/handled to her title, Ch Nan Su’s Flirt’n with Spunku.
